To prepare for my first portfolio piece, I researched about my theme; hunger in Massachusetts. I specifically researched organizations that tackled this issue. One organization I found was the Greater Boston Food Bank. I wanted my art to inform the viewer, so I looked at the statistics given from their website and from others. I then combined the statistics to see how many people in Massachusetts were seeking help about food problems. After that, I looked at other artists' work to get inspired. When I had finally come up with a general idea of what I wanted to work in and create, I made thumbnail sketches of my piece. The piece will be in 3D.
I am so glad to see you engage in this process of research and brainstorming. It will help you create a piece with depth. In looking at your artist links, I wondered if you followed the links to see the art that was being written about, both actual and virtual. Did these sites inspire you in any way as you plan your series?
