"Who I Honor" Final Post

I took a lot of risks creating these pieces. I wanted to create a mural to show the connection between my honoree and I, but I was bored of working with the usual media. So I decided to make a mosaic out of glass and ceramics. This was hard because I didn't know how to do it before. I had to embrace all of the mistakes. I also chose to create 3 mosaics, which was way more time consuming than I thought.

During this process, I learned how to use tile adhesive, apply grout, and cut wood. Now I feel like I can tile anything. As my work progressed, my relationship with the person I'm honoring became clearer.

So far, I have 1 completed mosaic, 1 mosaic ready for grouting, and one outlined. I am very proud of the completed one. It looked much nicer than I thought.

My pieces still need a lot of refining before it is exhibition ready. First of all, I need to finish them. Then I need to wipe excess materials off. I really hope I make it by the final critique.

  1. You have taken a lot of risks and you have learned a lot from that! Keep going, I trust the end result will be one you are proud of.
